Amazon Rebuilding Event

On December 12th, 2023 Amazon Transportation Engineering Services team members came out to West Coconut Grove to paint, landscape, and build a ramp for an elderly homeowner living on her own. On this annual day of giving, Amazon partnered with non-profits around the country, and chose to work with us for their Miami chapter. Lowe’s Rebuild A Block

As part of a 2 year commitment, the Lowe’s Rebuild A Block Grant was used to provide critical interior repairs to 6 homes in Liberty City. These repairs ranged from installing a new ramp, to a new bathroom conversion. In late November 2023, after the repairs were complete, volunteers from local Lowe’s stores joined forces to paint and landscape the homes.

Home Depot Operation Surprise

For Veteran’s Day, we partnered with the Home Depot Foundation to give back to those who served our country. As a token of gratitude, Home Depot store representatives painted, landscaped, built patio furniture, and gifted brand new appliances to an Air Force Veteran who served during the Vietnam War, stationed in Thailand.

Wells Fargo Grant Announcement and Volunteer Day

On July 28th, 2023 Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade hosted a volunteer event with the Wells Fargo Foundation, where they announced a grant award of $1.4 million to Rebuilding Together National, to be disbursed to affiliates around the country. The homeowner, Ms. Nunez, is an Army Veteran living in her family home that burned down not too long ago. With help from the grant, Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade was able to renovate her bathroom using a contractor and provide beautiful landscaping with local and national Wells Fargo volunteers, using plants from a local nursery.

Tree Trimming/Thinning Project in West Coconut Grove

To kick off the year, we launched a pilot program in Village West Coconut Grove that allows homeowners to receive necessary tree trimming for a very low cost. We selected 25 properties, where a maximum of 3 trees were trimmed/thinned to remove low hanging branches that were threats to the home and powerlines. By partnering with a local arborist, this program was a huge success in preparing homes for hurricane season, and even allowing some homeowners to be re-instated for their homeowner's insurance policies!
